2021 Adjudicator

LESLEY SHRIGLEY JONES Solo cellist, Baroque cellist, Pianist and Singer.

After a five year membership of The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain Lesley Shrigley Jones went on to study as a scholarship holder at both the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Stuttgart.

Post graduate studies with Antonio Janigro and Paul Tortelier led to London debuts with The Park Lane Group and at The Wigmore Hall, as a result of which Lesley became an established member of the Avant Garde chamber music group “The Fires of London “, directed by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.

Since then, her broad vision of repertoire and skills has led to recitals and concerts throughout Europe, Latin America and the UK. She has collaborated with Dance: Dance Umbrella Festival |Organists: Robin Walker, Carl Jackson and Dr Christopher Kent |Visual Artist: Rachel Gadsden ( Shamal ) |Film: Fusion concerts with the Russian pianist Yekaterina Lebedeva | Choirs: Hampton Court Chapel Royal.

In addition to the more traditional repertoire, recital programmes have championed new works by composers, including world premieres of new music by Camilleri, Denisov and Patachich, Skempton, Osborne and Danielson.

In tandem with her performance career, Lesley has established her reputation as a teacher and chamber music coach; as an examiner, lecturer and mentor for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and she has adjudicated for the National Schools Chamber Music Competition, Jugund Musiksiert, and the British and International Federation of Festivals.

Her recordings include “Cello In Song” with pianist Antony Saunders and “This Holy Earth”; music by Charles Camilleri.
